Rant rant rant.

http://www.cracked.com/article_19850_5-absurd-sci-fi-scenarios-science-actually-working-on.html

This shit fucking terrifies me. This is what disgusts me about humanity. Especially about the sciences. I hate how everyone thinks of science as forward thinking, as though science is what is propelling humanity towards greatness. WRONG. Science is no different from what has stagnated humanity from becoming more than simply animals with opposable thumbs. Art is where the true progress lies. Artists look at humanity and dare to question our faults. They make paintings, write stories, songs, all about our flaws and our failings. They do this so that we, in turn, can recognize and improve upon them. This list scares me for that reason. This is science laughing in the face of progress, in the face of the artists and philosophers who took an issue and said look, here is what will happen if we make this a reality. For one standard example, don’t create sentient robots. How many science fiction novels have been written about this? It’s a terrible fucking idea people, every possible way it can go wrong has been demonstrated in countless novels and movies. But no, scientists cling on to that basic human need to do things just because we can. That doesn’t make you great. It doesn’t make you an innovator. It makes you a fucking moron. It means you looked either looked at the risks and thought fuck it, the glory it will get me will outweigh the consequences so simply laid out before me, or worse, didn’t even bother thinking about them. I’m not sure I can make my point clear. Maybe I’m completely fucking wrong, I don’t know. All I know is that I’m sick of everyone looking on the arts as backwards thinking. As something not worthy of our time, the great age of science. To me, the arts are what will propel us into the future as something worth preserving. They force us to acknowledge our deepest flaws, and dare us to change. Science may be teaching us new and amazing things, but until we reflect upon our human nature in a way only art will let us, they can do so little to help further the human race in a constructive way. Again, I’m not a philosopher, debate me all you want. This has just been boiling up inside me for a while and I needed to get it out somehow.

Current Economic State

The guppy stared wistfuly out of her fishbowl into the blurry, vertical world. She nibbled mindlessly at the green luscious plants, only to realize for the thousandth time that they’re made of plastic. What she wanted more than anything was some fine aged cheddar and sparkly wine. She hated flat wine, as the consistancy of it reminded her far too much of her bowl-shaped prison. She knew she would never get any, however, since the people who feed her can barley affoard milk and cereal.

I’ve decided to start documenting my favourite moments since I’ve moved out. This here happend just a few weeks after we moved in. I think it was the turning point in our relationship.
Also, sorry I don’t have a scanner so the image kinda sucks. That’s not going to change any time soon though so deal with it.

Marvel at my level of procrastination! This is what I spent all week doing. At some point in there I read the Hammurabi code but this was my biggest accomplishment. It’s actually a back pack, those straps coming down the back are shoulder straps. Also, if you make this picture very very small, it looks like a cat.

Every time

I click on the link to my blog on google chrome I get all excited with anticipation to see if anything has been updated since I last visited a few hours ago. And then I remember that I am actually responsible for what gets posted on my blog, and so no, nothing has been updated. Then I get annoyed and go somewhere else, so nothing ever is updated.
